The National Steering Committee has been overwhelmed by the support received from councils and organisations across Australia as more and more sign up to be Partners in the initiative. Over 60 councils and organisations have become a Gold, Silver or Bronze Partner which amounts to over $65,000 in much needed funds to support the program.

By becoming an Official Partner, the financial support will enable us to undertake several activities including:

• A range of printed and promotional materials, a calendar of events, and media kits that will be circulated nationally to all CEO’s/General Managers, HR Managers and other local government key stakeholders.

• Support our 21 Year of Women in Local Government Ambassadors, in delivering the message of women’s participation across Australia.

• The Year of Women in Local Government media launch.

• A range of creative audio visual and artistic promotional materials that will capture the stories of women today and promote the opportunities within local government for women both professionally and as elected representatives.

• Hosting of an official close to the year, which is being held in conjunction with the ALGWA Biennial conference.

We encourage all local governments, associations and organisations to consider the opportunity to support this initiative and encourage the promotion of the Year of Women in Local Government.
